What happens if my Interlibrary Loan item is damaged or lost while I have it?

Answer

Borrowers are responsible for items received through Interlibrary Loan from the time the materials is picked up until the time it is returned to the library.

  • If the borrowed item is damaged during this time, please alert the service desk staff of the damage upon returning the item. Interlibrary Loan staff will contact the lending library where repair costs will be assessed by the lending library. Repair/replace costs along with any fines assessed by the lending and WSU library will be recorded into your WSU library account. You will receive billing notices of those costs/fees/fines from the WSU library.
  • If the borrowed item is lost during this time, you are required to inform WSU's Interlibrary Loan Office (801-626-7487) interlibrary@weber.edu. Interlibrary Loan staff will contact the lending library where replacement costs will be assessed by the lending library. Replacement costs along with any fines assessed by the lending and borrowing library will be recorded into your WSU library account. You will receive billing notices of those costs/fees/fines from the WSU library.
