What are Cookies and why do some of the library's systems say they are sending them?

Answer

Cookies are little bits of code representing session ID's that are unique to your connection to our systems. These are saved to your browser from our library systems which, in turn, allow our systems to more efficiently communicate to yours. These cookies requested by the Library's systems contain no personal information and are used simply for the purpose of retaining your unique session connection information while you are using our web based services.

You have the option to refuse cookies from your browser and, in most cases, this will have little to no affect on your connection. Other services, such as authentication services & remote access to library databases may require the cookie to function properly.
