What is the difference between OneSearch and the library's Catalog search?
Answer
These are two similar but very distinct and different systems and it is very important to understand the differences between the two.
- OneSearch is a search platform (also referred to as a discovery platform) which combines ALL of the library's holdings including electronic subscription and eBook resources, articles, newspapers, etc. It also includes everything in the physical library building.
- Library's Catalog (also referred to as an OPAC... Online Public Access Catalog) is all of the library's physical (in building) collections.
Both resources are linked below.
The best way to think of it is:
- OneSearch is an index of everything (electronic and physical) the library owns and provides access too.
- Library Catalog is an index of only physical materials found in the library building.
